Sherwin-Williams
Color Capsule of the Year by Sherwin-Williams
Sherwin-Williams’ Color of the Year isn’t actually one color—it’s nine! In celebration of their 15th anniversary of announcing colors of the year, the brand traded their traditional single color pick for a stunning nine-color palette instead. Their 2025 Color of the Year Capsule includes nine of Sherwin-Williams’ best-selling colors in complementary shades, so you can mix and match in any way you like.
The capsule includes earthy browns, gray-blues, gold, green, mauve, white, and beige, and is made up of both trendy pops of color and timeless neutrals. “It’s very special to commemorate our 15th Color of the Year anniversary by expanding to an entire capsule that is a modern, fresh take on color, with a balanced and usable assortment of shades,” Sue Wadden, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams, said in a press release.

Behr
Rumor has it that Behr Paint Company announced its 2025 Color of the Year. So what is this mystery color? It’s Rumors (MQ1-15), a deep ruby red that adds warmth and allure to any space.
“We’re seeing people embrace color like never before,” said Erika Woelfel, vice president of color and creative services. “Rumors is a modern take on the timeless red that creates an energetic appeal to make a lasting statement in a stunning way.”
While Behr’s Color of the Year 2024, Cracked Pepper, evoked moody and meditative vibes, Rumors plays to rich hues, reflecting those found in a glass of red wine. It also makes a confident addition to the Behr 2025 Color Trends Palette, an annual selection of forward-looking colors, from soft neutrals to bold hues, for DIYers, designers and paint professionals. From eye-catching curb appeal on a front door to a dramatic four-wall drench in a bedroom, Rumors is a color that encourages self-expression and is adaptable to any design style.
Pantone
Curious like us and want a little history behind the Color of the Year? The hue chosen as Color of the Year has become increasingly influential in the vast world of design and brand marketing. The first Color of the Year was selected back in 2000, but it wasn’t until 2007 that the color trend forecasting took on a life of its own. Vogue Australia has an article from 2023, Pantone through the ages: every single Colour of the Year since 2000, which dives into all of the past Pantone Colors of Year.
In an interview with Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, Pressman explained that The Pantone Color Institute originally created the Pantone Color of the Year educational program in 1999 to engage the design community and color enthusiasts around the world in a conversation around color. We wanted to draw attention to the relationship between culture and color. We wanted to highlight to our audience how what is taking place in our global culture is expressed and reflected through the language of color. This thought process rings just as true today just as it did back in 1999. That’s one of the major reasons why, each year, so many around the world look forward to our Pantone Color of the Year announcement. Read the full interview here.
2000 COLOR OF THE YEAR – Cerulean
A gorgeous pastel hue meant a peaceful, calm start to the 21st century. A rejection of ’90s dark wood, blacks and the strong influence of brown, Cerulean was a fresh start for more than just Pantone’s new venture.
2024 COLOR OF THE YEAR – Peach Fuzz
Warm, summery and calm all at once, 2024’s Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz is intended to provoke connection and a sense of closeness. A modern peach hue that straddles two warm tones (pink and orange), there’s an inherent softness and easygoing elegance to the shade—making it one Color of the Year we can really see taking off.
This is the 25 year for Pantone’s Color of Year and we are all eager to learn what color trend Pantone’s 2025 Color of Year will bring us.
