While researching for our current and upcoming kitchen projects over the last few months, we’ve come across some unique products and trends for 2020.

If you’re like the rest of us, our lives today don’t always allow us to spend as much time in our kitchens as we may like. However, we still need and want our kitchens to be functional, practical and organized.  We strive to create spaces that not only meet those needs, but also incorporate beautiful designs that continue to make the kitchen the heart of your home.

Colorful cabinets

Green is the kitchen color of 2020!  A great example are these bright chartreuse cabinets that portray a clean, modern style. If you don’t like green, blue cabinets are also trending in 2020.

White cabinetry is classic and will probably never go out of style but it’s definitely not your only choice. Green makes a terrific kitchen color, reminding us of fresh vegetables and crunchy apples. You’ll be seeing many different shades of green in kitchens all over Instagram in the upcoming year. Pale mint and olive work well in farmhouse kitchens or go bright with chartreuse or clover green for a more contemporary flavor.

Mixed metal hardware

These black goose-neck faucets will give any kitchen an updated look.  Are you purchasing black stainless steel appliances, a matte black faucet will work beautifully.  If you tend to gravitate towards warm metal tones, try copper or brass for your faucets instead.

The right hardware helps update your kitchen and ties all the elements together, so don’t be afraid to mix it up!

Statement Appliances

When an appliance is as unique as some of the ones that we have been seeing on the market, why hide them?  We’re excited to see all the beautiful ovens on display in homes in 2020.

The Rise of Smart Kitchen Appliances

The next generation of smart appliances are in the near future too.  Sharp’s Stainless Steel loT Easy Wave Open Microwave Drawer Oven, which opens with a simple wave of your hand near the motion sensor, boasts an elegant and stylish design for a premium kitchen.  Steam ovens are another appliance type making waves in the cooking world.  With the creation of super-heated steam ovens, cooking has never been faster and more comfortable than it is today.

Bespoke Larders

Apparently, bespoke larders are still one of the biggest trends this year and next, ‘A must–have in the modern kitchen, with storage at the right temperature and ingredients easily accessible, a well-designed bespoke larder is also a thing of great beauty.’

Not sure what a bespoke larder is, well neither did we, but I did a little research.  Historically, a larder was a cool area, usually just away from the kitchen, for storing food prior to use, and were commonplace in houses before the invention of the refrigerator. The essential qualities of a larder in historical times were to be as cool as possible, close to food preparation areas, and equipped with shelves and cupboards appropriate to the food being store.

Waterproof Engineered Hardwood

Engineered hardwood is built with a real wood top layer and an artificial base. Recently, manufacturers have developed engineered hardwood with a 100% waterproof SPC core.

SPC (stone plastic composite) has innovated the world of vinyl flooring with a durable, rigid core and complete water resistance. Now, we have those amazing waterproof features available with a real wood surface!

Finally, we can showcase the beauty of natural wood in high moisture areas like basements and bathrooms. You get the best of both worlds, and with a lower price tag than solid wood. What’s not to love?

Heated Countertops

Countertop heaters?  Whether it’s granite, quartz, marble or concrete, all stone feels cold to the touch. Adding some warmth under the area where people sit most, such as the island overhang, is becoming a wildly popular trend. It’s a simple add on that will bring luxury and comfort to your kitchen for years to come.
